Just ran into JeM in Bushnell Park, he was waiting to participate in a Critical Mass bike ride.
It's crazy seeing people who have brothers and seeing the brother more recently.
Genetics leaves it's mark.
I can see Mr. More in JeM's build these days.
And I always thought me and my Bros. looked so different.
So I guess JeM's my neighbor now and I will definitely go catch up with him soon (what up kid!).
Other than that I am homeward bound like Shadow...

A review of my recent enjoyable travels on the tubes.

It's been some time since I met with a good quick read, and I found one recently linked on my favorite page in the world (coudal). This short fictional work reminds me of the doorholder's work and that's a good thing.

On to politics which I don't want to comment on too much through this venue. The issues and surrounding circumstances on which people base their decisions on who to support and vote for are too nuanced for me to engage in anything other than face to face dialogue. That being said I was speaking with a colleague and I thought of how the Ron Paul people put together a "google Ron Paul" campaign to educate voters on their candidate. Of course that works well when you have throngs of web support and a candidate that isn't dissected by the main stream media. I thought a similar approach could be used by anyone who does not support McCain. At this point grey is the new black, I Don't Care Fridays are the new Saturdays, and McCainisms are the new Bushisms. So if you're undecided, I suggest you...

Wild Horses roam the area between the Atlantic and the Bay area in North Carolina, here are two of an estimated 90 that were fighting a bit. I got to drive the SUV on the beach to get out to where we found them and it was sooo strange and kinda scary.

Matthew Brown of the Los Angeles Angels Triple-A Affiliate in Salt Lake City just brought team USA back into the opening round game against South Korea. Trailing 5-6 in the top of the ninth, Brown came up to bat with the bases loaded and two out. Two quick sloppy strikes were saved with a couple foul ball swats and the final left field punch scoring 2.
Everyone in the office is glad that he did cause I was about to throw the TV out of the window...
Team USA trailing all game and losing in the opening round? Half an inning left South Korea has an innning opening double with no outs... gotta go. There may be a TV flying afterall...

Self serve scalding

Last minute shopping for camp this weekend turned up this jaw dropping beverage. Self heating hot chocolate...
Apparently water lining the exterior of the can mixes with "Quicklime" which heats the beverage in 5-8 minutes.
I was going to buy one until I saw warning about what to do in case of contact with the heating element chemicals...

Mini Golf

A group of my pals from work have agreed to start a mini golf league and we will be playing local courses in the Hartford area. Blue Fox in Simsbury will be the spot soon, maybe today or tomorrow. There is a fantastic Mini Golf course in Farmington and one good one in Berlin. The hokey ones with windmills and castle gates are ok but more natural forms on the course are what we're looking for. Rocks, water, sand etc... Got a good spot?

Summer's Gone

Every morning the light feels heavier than it did. I can feel Autumn creeping through the trees and infecting the leaves. I do not want summer to end.
The trip to North Carolina is going to be awesome and I can't stop thinking of it. I am sure everyone is going to really enjoy it. Unless a Hurricane dumps rain on us for days...

Huge mansion, 18 friends, pool, hot tub and it is basically on the beach.

The older brother was home for a while, but now he's back out in Seattle. I miss that kid and really loved having him around.

Scooter will start her nursing school soon and we got a second hand desk for her laptop. She got post it notes, pens, pencils and a desk calendar - it is cute to see her getting ready for school like that.

China is scared of knowlede and my computer speaks to me... I was playing in word with the writing pad doodling the Olympic symbol and then drew out China. I was thinking of blogging on all the ridiculous things the chinese government has done in preparation for the games, like rigging hotels with internet spying hardware and telling bar owners not to serve black people or mongolians...

I was listening to my muxtape which is shite for the time being, and really is a placeholder for a definitive tape.
Then the ....'s started. What you see below China is what my computer wrote to me slowly and over a period of 5 minutes. Then I realized it was hearing Everything Hits at Once and dictating what text it thought it recognized. I like my IBM ThinkCentre's interpretation.

Charlotte Perkins Gilman - was born in Hartford and one of her aunts was Harriet Beecher Stowe (Uncle Tom's Cabin... also the lesser known serial adventure Uncle Tom's Out House). Seriously though, she was uber-progressive and feminist and she put pen to paper in the form of essays and novellas. She has a few collections of poetry, this poem "Step Faster Please" is easily reappropriated to todays road rage society...

Anyways it's a bit of Hartfords lesser known history. "The Yellow Wallpaper" is a quick read that Charlotte is probably best known for and the book is very much a modern scary movie. Imprisonment err... confinement in a "haunted house" a scary room. Left only with maddening thoughts. Scholars think the novella is some of the first literary evidence of "post partum depression" hmmm...

Of all of her poems that I've read my favorite is "News" from "the satirist" section of her collection of poems entitled In This Our World.
